Auto captions from your own voice

Subtitles written from your narration and timed to the video — with the silent gaps cut out in the same pass.

Many people watch videos with the sound off, on a bus, in a classroom or late at night. Auto captions for screen recording let them follow your tutorial anyway, and they help viewers who are hard of hearing or watching in a second language. Our article on why captions help your videos covers this in more detail.

What auto captions do

  • Turn your narration into captions that appear on screen in time with your voice.
  • Put every line on the timeline as its own piece of text, so you can fix a word, change the look or shift the timing.
  • Cut the silent pauses in the same pass, if you want, so the video stays tight.
  • Stay non-destructive, like every edit in the app: a layer over your original video that you can change or remove at any time.

How to use it

  1. Open the recording in the editor and tap AI.
  2. Tick Subtitles from speech, and Cut silent pauses if you want those gone too.
  3. Leave the language on Auto, or pick it yourself.
  4. Tap Start. The sound is prepared, then transcribed, and the lines land on the timeline.
  5. Read through, fix any word that came out wrong, and style the text the way you like.

What it costs

Captions are one of the two features that need a server, so they use AI credits. You get a few free credits every day, which is enough for short clips with nothing to set up. For longer videos, or to skip credits entirely, connect your own AI key: the request then goes straight from your phone to your provider, and we are not in the middle at all. Your key is stored in Android Keystore and never sent to our servers.

Your video is never uploaded. Only the sound of the video is sent for speech-to-text — to our server when you use credits, or straight to your own provider when you use your key. The video file itself stays on your phone.

Tips for captions that read well

  • Keep sentences short and clear when you narrate. Short sentences caption better and are easier to read on a phone.
  • Record somewhere quiet. The ready check tells you before you start if there is too much background noise.
  • Write a script first. A script doubles as a transcript you can paste into your video description.
  • Show as well as tell. Auto zoom and click animations make each step visible even without sound.
  • Trim the rest in the editor; our guide on cutting pauses and mistakes shows how.

Still to come

Two related things are coming soon: deleting a sentence in the transcript to cut that part of the video, and removing filler words like "um" and "uh" automatically. Translation and voice-over are planned later, as described in AI captions and translation.

Who benefits most

  • Teachers and students sharing lessons that people review in quiet places.
  • Creators posting Reels and Shorts, where many viewers scroll with sound off.
  • Bangla and multilingual creators who want text on screen for a wider audience.
  • Businesses making support and onboarding videos that customers watch at work.

Frequently asked questions

Do captions need an AI key?

No. You can use the free daily credits with nothing set up. A key of your own is for people who want more, or who would rather keep everything between their phone and their provider.

Do captions work in Bangla?

Speech in the app's languages is supported, and how well it comes out depends on the model doing the listening. Read through the lines before you publish, as you would with any transcript.

Is my video uploaded for captions?

No. Only the extracted sound is sent — to our server with credits, or to your own provider with your key. The video stays on your phone.

Can I edit the captions afterwards?

Yes. Every line is a piece of text on the timeline: change the words, the style, the position or the timing, or delete it.

Record with clear narration, let the captions be written for you, then read them through once. That one pass is usually all it takes.
