Privacy blur: hide what viewers shouldn't see

Phone numbers, emails, card numbers and codes are found and covered for you — on your phone, without uploading anything.

A screen recording keeps everything that was on the screen, including things you never meant to share: a phone number in a chat list, an email address in a form, a balance in a wallet app. Privacy blur can blur personal info in screen recordings for you, so a quick tutorial doesn't turn into a privacy mistake.

What privacy blur does

It reads through your recording, finds sensitive-looking details and covers them for the moments they are on screen.

  • Finds common personal details such as phone numbers, email addresses, card numbers, one-time codes and password fields.
  • Covers them in the editor for exactly the stretch of video where they appear.
  • Leaves every blur in your hands. Each one sits on the timeline on its own, so you can move it, resize it, retime it or delete it.
  • Stays non-destructive, like every edit in Cinematic Recorder: your original recording is never changed.

No automatic tool catches everything, so it is a strong first pass, not a replacement for watching your video before you post it.

How to use it

  1. Open the recording in the editor and tap AI.
  2. Tick Blur private info (you can tick auto zoom, click effects and click sounds in the same pass).
  3. Tap Start. The screen shows how far along it is while it looks through the video.
  4. Scrub the timeline and check each blur. Tap one to adjust it, or delete the ones you don't need.
  5. Need one more? Add a blur by hand over any area, for as long as you like.
It stays on your phone. This runs on the device itself — your video is not uploaded, you don't need internet for it, and it spends no AI credits.

Why it matters

Many people record tutorials on their real phone with their real accounts. That is where leaks happen. Common examples:

  • A bKash or Nagad how-to video that shows a real number or balance.
  • A chat app tutorial with friends' names and numbers in the list.
  • An f-commerce order demo that shows a customer's address.
  • A one-time code (OTP) arriving as a notification in the middle of a recording.

Once a video is public, it can be copied and reshared. Preventing the leak is far easier than undoing it. For more on code safety, read OTPs, passwords and screen recording.

Habits that work even better than blur

Blur covers a mistake after it is recorded. These habits stop the private data from being recorded at all, which is always safer.

  1. Use demo or test accounts. Show the app with a test account and sample data instead of your own. Our guide to making banking tutorials safely shows how.
  2. Turn on Do Not Disturb so messages and codes don't pop up while you record. The app can switch it on for you and off again when you stop.
  3. Let the privacy shield work. With it on, recording pauses by itself whenever a messaging app comes to the front.
  4. Pause when you need to type something private. The floating controls let you pause from any app and resume after.
  5. Watch the whole video before posting. Check every corner, the status bar and any lists.

Run through our privacy checklist before you record and read how to hide personal info in videos for more methods.

Some banking and payment apps block screen recording and show a black screen. That protection is built into those apps; do not try to work around it.

Privacy by design

Blur fits the way the app already works. Your videos stay on your phone and we never upload them. For the AI features that do use a server — subtitles and cutting silent pauses — you can connect your own OpenAI or Gemini key, and everything still works with AI turned off. See auto captions for what those features add.

Frequently asked questions

Does blurring need internet or AI credits?

No. Finding and covering private details happens on your phone, so it works offline and spends no credits.

Will privacy blur catch everything?

No automatic tool is perfect. That is why every blur can be reviewed and adjusted, why you can add your own, and why you should always watch your video before sharing it.

Is my video uploaded to detect personal info?

No. Your videos stay on your phone; we never upload them.

Does blur change my original recording?

No. Like every edit in the app, it is non-destructive — the original recording stays untouched and you can remove the blur any time.

The best privacy tool is still a clean screen. Record with test data, let blur catch what slipped through, and check the video before you post.
